Presentation for AG15 ready

7/29/15

I am ready for SIAM AG15, in Korea. Elizabeth Gross and are organized a minisymposium in three sessions at the conference next week, and I have the first slot.

The talk will be a survey of advances in software in numerical algebraic geometry. I'm going to talk about software which solves polynomial systems, and that which certifies solutions. I think it will be a good start to the session, as my talk is fairly high-level, and may provide a useful entry point for new practitioners, while leading experienced algebraic geometers to new and interesting references they may have missed since the last AG conference in 2013 in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Hope to see you there!
Burmester paper submitted

7/27/15

Today we submitted our paper on generalized Burmester problems in kinematic mechanism design to ASME. Check it out!
New undergraduate mentee

7/16/15

I am happy to announce a new undergraduate mentee, Pierce Cunneen. A student of mine at Notre Dame in Introduction to Scientific Computing, ACMS 20210, Pierce will be working with me this summer to document the usage of my curve and surface software, bertini_real. Pierce does great work, and I hope that he will continue to work with me through the school year, to add additional features to the software, and hopefully learn about 3d printing!
